1. Receiving Your Order, but Want to Store the Daffodil Bulbs? Check Your Bulbs First for Drying Out, Rot, and Potential Diseases.
If you've received your order of daffodil bulbs, it's a good idea to first check the condition of your daffodil bulbs. When it comes to storing daffodil bulbs, attention to detail is crucial. The bulbs are alive after all, and we need to keep them alive to produce the world's most beautiful flowers. So, before storing daffodil bulbs indoors or outdoors, we need to inspect them. Upon receiving the bulbs, check them for drying out, rot, and potential diseases as far as visible to the naked eye. If you notice any issues, simply contact us. We're happy to assist, and if there's any problem, we'll promptly resolve it by providing you with new bulbs. If you've purchased flower bulbs from another vendor, we recommend the same procedure.
2. You Can Store Daffodil Bulbs in a Breathable Packaging
Storing Daffodil Bulbs in a Crate or Netlon Bag (Netlon Bag = Orange Mandarin Bag)
According to farmer Dirk, storing daffodil bulbs is best done by placing the bulbs in a crate or hanging them in a netlon bag (old mandarin bag). The bulbs need plenty of fresh air. However, remember never to store them in a sealed plastic bag.
Storing Daffodil Bulbs in Newspaper or a Shoebox
If you can't find a crate or netlon bag, no problem at all. Don't stress. Storing daffodil bulbs works just fine by wrapping the bulbs in newspaper or placing them in a shoebox. In both cases, ensure that the daffodil bulbs are stored in packaging that allows for sufficient fresh air. If you opt for newspapers, make sure not to wrap the bulbs too tightly. If you choose a shoebox, make sure to create enough (large) holes.
3. You Can Store Daffodil Bulbs in a Dark, Cool (9°C - 20°C), and Dry Place
After packing, you can store your daffodil bulbs in a dry spot in your home. However, note that storing daffodils in a room with a different temperature than advised may decrease the quality of your bulbs. Fortunately, you have some flexibility, around 11°C (which is not nearly as common with other flower bulbs). When storing daffodil bulbs indoors or around the house, consider the following:
- Dry
- Dark
- A consistent room temperature (9°C - 20°C)
- The room should have fresh air circulation and air movement.
4. Where in the House Can You Store Daffodil Bulbs?
You can store daffodil bulbs in various places around the house. Consider:
- A pantry or kitchen cabinet
- A cellar or cellar cabinet
- A shed or garage
- Another dry place between 9°C - 20°C
5. You Can Store Daffodil Bulbs for up to 4 Months
You can store daffodil bulbs for approximately 4 months. Store them under ideal conditions as explained above, and you can enjoy endless summers of blooms.
